The frob3D Viewer project is an impressive 3D object point/wireframe/polygon viewer. Developed as a personal project by the creator to learn C++, this software has a long and interesting history. Initially, the developer programmed a few stacks using Hypercard to edit and display 3D shapes on a Mac SE. This project was then ported to Modula-2, utilising the free MacMETH compiler and MOPS programming language, which is where the software obtained its current class hierarchy.
At this stage in development, it was still only a wire-frame viewer, but the creator took it to the next level by porting it to c++ for the Macintosh with the use of the Macintosh Programmers Workshop. However, the software became more widely available after the creator wiped Windows from their PC and opted for a Linux operating system. The software was then ported to X and fitted with polygon drawing capabilities.
