GryPhon

I recently tried out GryPhon, a CD-player that boasts configurability, stability, and a range of "exciting" new features. What sets GryPhon apart from other CD-players is that it is entirely programmed in Python. It looks similar to Grip and comes equipped with CDLow, the only full-featured CD-audio library/module for Python that I am aware of at the moment.

However, CDLow is not the only feature that makes GryPhon stand out. GryPhon has better CD-playing functions compared to Grip and offers an impressive range of features. Key features of GryPhon include Python code, CDDB-loading/editing/saving support for multi-artist discs, multi-speed skipping/searching, normal/random/playlist playback modes, loop playback mode, customizable "Custom-Col" (as seen in GryPhon's screenshots), XML-like colour/style-formatting of track names, change of CD-device on the fly, tracklist display (including for multi-artist discs), and window title for no-disc, stopped, and playing.

What's even better is that GryPhon now includes multi-speed skipping/searching and window-shrink to number of tracks! In the latest release, they have fixed a typo that made setting column-adjustment work properly.

Overall, GryPhon is a CD-player program that delivers on its promises of perfect configurability, stability, and exciting new features. I would recommend this software to anyone looking for a complete and reliable CD-playing solution.
