IFMonitor

IFMonitor is an essential software for KDE users who wish to keep track of their network interface monitoring. With this monitoring software, you can easily monitor the usage of your network bandwidth. Note that this software depends on the QWT library, developed by Uwe Rathmann and Josef Wilgen.

In order to install IFMonitor, you first need to make sure that your system has the QWT library installed. You can use the "locate" command to search for the library. If you don't find anything, update your locate database with the following command as root: "locate -u -e /mnt,/proc,/sys,/tmp,/root". Then, run "locate qwt" to check if the library is installed. If not, download the sources from QWT Homepage and compile/install it according to the instructions of the authors.

Once you have ensured that the QWT library is installed, you can proceed to install the IFMonitor binaries package for Felinux. To do this, open a konsole and type "su" to access root privileges, then enter your root password. Next, type "installpkg ifmonitor-0.1.0-i486-1lb.tgz" to install the binaries. After the installation is complete, you can run IFMonitor by typing "ifmonitor" as a normal user in a konsole or selecting it from the Accessories menu.

Note that the package is also compatible with Slackware Linux, with libstdc++.so.6 (default 10.2 slack has libstdc++.so.5). Alternatively, if you wish to compile IFMonitor sources, you first need to decompress the archive and open a konsole, then navigate to the directory where the sources are saved. Here, type "export LDFLAGS="-lqwt";./configure make make install" as root to compile and install. Once complete, you can run IFMonitor in the same way as before. Overall, IFMonitor is an excellent tool for monitoring network bandwidth usage, and is highly recommended for KDE users.
