JCopist is an efficient and reliable document generation server that utilizes OpenOffice.org. With JCopist, the flexibility of OpenOffice.org's built-in converters is at your disposal. This allows you to convert files into a variety of formats, such as OpenOffice.org Writer to PDF, HTML, RTF, and Microsoft Word, and OpenOffice.org Calc to PDF, HTML, and Microsoft Excel.
When processing documents with JCopist, you have the option to choose between two methods. Synchronous processing returns the generated document to the client, which can be ideal for displaying the document in the user's web browser when calling JCopist from a web application. Alternatively, asynchronous processing allows you to specify one or more methods to send the generated document. Currently, JCopist supports email sending, and soon it will also support sending documents to a network printer. You can even develop your own document senders, making JCopist a fully customizable solution.
