KLearnNotes2 teaches music note names through software.
Version 1.2
License GPL
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage klearnnotes2.sourceforge.net
Developed by Marek Wickowski
KLearnNotes2 is a powerful software tool that enables users to learn the names of music notes with ease. This software has exciting capabilities for music learners, and it is set to become a fully-featured music teacher for rhythm, scales, key signatures, and chords. KLearnNotes2 places special emphasis on guitar playing, making it an essential tool for aspiring guitarists.

One of the key features of KLearnNotes2 is its wise quick learning algorithm, which focuses on training users on what they deem the most challenging. Learning is flexible due to the software's lesson-choice capabilities and a set of preset lessons aimed at gradually mastering successive notes. KLearnNotes2 supports both bass and treble clefs and offers customizable speed goals, incentivizing users to increase their note-reading proficiency.

To enhance users' learning experience, KLearnNotes2 provides two training modes. The first, static, vertical note positions, is preparation for chord reading, while the second, horizontal, game-style exercises, prepares learners for sight-reading. Voice recognition enables users to answer questions audibly, offering additional convenience.

KLearnNotes2 delivers exceptional sound output as it allows users to switch between standard, guitar players, or custom output. It employs modern technology, such as Qt/kdelibs, midi sound output for OSS or using timidity (any system) or ALSA (experimental! using tse3 library), and voice recognition from the microphone (OSS only).

Whether you are a music newbie or a seasoned musician, KLearnNotes2 caters to all skill levels. The software is perfect for learning new things like reading new staves. The latest release, Thu May 12 09:58:57 CET 2004, boasts new features such as the horizontal exercise (game) and the first trial of midi for aRts/tse3, among others.

Other notable features include Solfeggio notes naming, the PianoKeyboard and BaseMusicNote classes, timidity MIDI output, and the new MidiOutput class, which is ready for implementing other supports. KLearnNotes2 also features some minor fixes, like variable-size array 'prefetch_buf' and pointer of type `void *' used in arithmetic. Overall, KLearnNotes2 is an ideal software tool for anyone looking to improve their music skills.
