MX610-notification for Pidgin is a handy software that notifies you of new or unread messages using your mouse's IM-led and easily prompts the conversation window with the IM-button. There are four types of notifications it provides, namely Normal, Pulse, Flash, and Instant on/off. Moreover, the Normal notification lights continuously and fades in and out, while Pulse pulsates and fades in and out continuously. On the other hand, Flash notification flashes, and Instant on/off lights continuously without fading.
To use this plugin successfully, you need to have hiddev-support enabled in your kernel and read-write-permissions for the user running Pidgin to that hiddev-devicefile. The installation process is relatively easy. You will need to unpack the package and move it to the created directory. Perhaps editing the Makefile may not be necessary.
