For each port, the client specifies the IP address of the receiving server, port number, and the number of the real serial port on the receiver. The server receives information from clients and then transfers it to the ports designated by the clients. The server also transfers flows, which come from these ports, to the client. TCP/IP additionally transfers overhead information about the condition of different signals on serial port physical contacts.
