neXtgen Povray Editor (XPE) is a software that offers users a graphical editor for Povray. Based on the wxWidgets library, the editor has a modern code editor layout that is similar to other popular software like Kdevelop, Netbeans and Eclipse. However, the main focus is on Povray. The design has been made to optimize the user's workspace, and it includes numerous features that were present on Povray's Windows version as well as many extra-features.
The neXtgen Povray editor is a complete rewrite of the old QTPovEditor project. This newer version aims to be more powerful, more flexible, portable for use on Linux, Win32, and Mac and consumes less resource than its predecessor. The software offers some key features such as auto-completion on CTRL+SPACE, an image-files viewer, a files explorer with external application support for non-handled file types, Javadoc-like documentation support, Povray files parsing with a navigator display, direct access by the right-clicking feature, ini files support, insert menu, rendering console, notepad, clock, open documents, configuration utility, retractable panels interface, and much more.
In the latest release of the software, users can have non-filled settings, and the dialog buttons have been replaced to make them translatable.
