NoMachine NX is a rapid X11 protocol-based terminal server software system.
I recently had the pleasure of using NoMachine NX, a lightning-fast terminal server system that runs on the X11 protocol. One of the features that really impressed me is how NX is able to translate and embed the MS Windows Terminal Server and VNC protocols into X/NX. Being an order of magnitude faster than VNC or X11, NX is capable of running on bandwidth as narrow as 10 kBit/sec, making it ideal for remote work.
As a bonus, NX also embeds RDP and RFB protocols, enabling users to compress and accelerate remote Windows and VNC sessions. Even across slow links, such as modems, NX performs exceptionally well, allowing me to work fluently without any lag.
The NX project provides a range of libraries and X11 proxying agents to ensure efficient compression and optimized transport of X11, SMB, IPP, HTTP, and arbitrary protocols like audio over the internet. The software is perfect for remote workers, digital nomads, and anyone looking to get work done on the go.
In the latest version of NoMachine NX, a number of issues were fixed, such as potential failures during copy and paste operations when the session is run from NX Client for Windows. Additionally, the .nxs session files are now correctly associated with the NX Client application on Ubuntu 8.04, improving the user experience even further. Overall, NoMachine NX is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a reliable and fast terminal server system.
