nonlimitedSynth is a back-end software tool that connects seamlessly with reacTIVision, allowing users to create high-quality digital audio outputs with ease.
NonlimitedSynth serves as a backend to reacTIVision, and it requires the following components to function: Qt 4.4, CLAM Devel, OpenGL, and Portaudio 1.9. To compile it, simply run the command $ scons clam_prefix=clam_prefix [-j JOBS]. To configure the software, use the -- nSynth option, and you can personalize the Fiducial Mapping and other settings by editing the "nonlimitedSynth.xml" file.
If you plan to use LineIn, make sure to specify a valid input-capable device within the parameters. This typically means using soundcard PA-Device-Number with stereo input and output. You can find a list of PortAudio device numbers during the application startup.
When using the TUIO Simulator, the file "tuio-sim-config.xml" is already preconfigured to match the settings in "nonlimitedSynth.xml." As with most reactable software, NonlimitedSynth features squares for generating different tones (Sine, Rectangle, 2x Sawtooth, and LineIn), rounded-squares for filtering sounds (Band-, 2x Low-, High-Pass), and circles for controlling two Sine and two Rectangle signals.
Please note that the pentagons are not yet functional, and to run the software, type $ ./nSynth in the command prompt. If you experience sound crackle, try running $ sudo nice -n -10 ./nSynth or changing the sound configuration settings as explained in the "Configuration" chapter.
