Op tool is a powerful solution that provides system administrators with a flexible means of granting access to certain root operations without compromising the system's security. With the ability to assign different sets of users to access unique operations, Op tool provides granular control over user permissions, enhancing the overall system security.

Originally developed in 1990 by Tom Christiansen and Dave Koblas, Op tool has undergone several updates and porting over the years, with the latest version currently maintained by Alec Thomas. These updates have ensured the software remains a crucial tool for businesses today.

I had the privilege of using Op tool during my time at Access Gaming Systems, where it was extensively utilized to manage developer and administrator access to valuable resources.

In this release of Op tool, several improvements and bug fixes have been implemented, including the addition of rpl_malloc/rpl_realloc to support systems with unreliable implementations, thereby enabling the software to link successfully.

Additionally, compilation issues with HP-UX have been fixed, and the software now dynamically detects 'help' parameters that are missing, using the actual command to be run as a fallback measure.

For added convenience, the software now includes void detection for openlog(), further improving its flexibility and enabling users to optimize their system operations accurately.
