Partition Logic

Partition Logic is a free software tool designed specifically for hard disk partitioning and data management. This tool offers a range of functions such as creating, deleting, formatting, moving partitions, and modifying their attributes. Additionally, it provides users with the ability to copy entire hard disks from one to another. Partition Logic has been developed based on the Visopsys operating system and is available free of charge.

One of the biggest advantages of Partition Logic is that it is a standalone system, which means it can run independently of your regular operating system. It boots from a CD or floppy disk, allowing you to perform hard disk partitioning and data management functions with ease. It is also intended to replace commercial programs such as Partition Magic, Norton Ghost, and Drive Image.

Partition Logic has very modest system requirements. It supports most of the basic PC hardware without any additional work or configuration. These requirements include a Pentium-class x86 processor, 32 megabytes RAM memory (16 megabytes in text mode), IDE (ATA) hard disks for partitioning, an IDE (ATAPI) CD-ROM drive if booting from the CD version, and a standard PC floppy disk if booting from the floppy disk version. For graphics mode, a VESA 2-compatible graphics card with linear framebuffer support and a PS/2-style mouse are required.

While Partition Logic is an excellent tool for hard disk partitioning and data management, it does come with a few limitations. Currently, it does not support partitioning of SCSI hard disks and non MS-DOS/MBR-style partition tables (such as Sun, BSD, EFI/GPT), formatting non-FAT filesystems, or filesystem resizing. Additionally, serial mice are not supported in graphics mode, and keyboard layouts other than UK English and US English are not currently available.

The latest Version of Partition Logic comes with various improvements and new features, including 64-bit disk support, UDF (DVD) filesystem support, and GPT partition table support. Additionally, the ATA/IDE driver has been upgraded, including the ability to better support backwards-compatible SATA controllers. New keyboard mappings for French, Belgian, and Spanish have also been added, alongside bug fixes and other tweaks. Overall, Partition Logic is a great solution for anyone seeking a completely free hard disk partitioning and data management tool.
