Pciutils is a software package that enables users to view and analyze the status of their PCIe devices through a set of programs. It allows users to efficiently manage their devices by configuring their registers and performing inspections with ease.
The pciutils program offers a variety of tools for interacting with and managing PCI devices. It allows you to easily list available PCI devices and check their status, as well as configure their settings by modifying their configuration registers.
Currently, pciutils is fully compatible with all versions of Linux, and offers experimental support for FreeBSD, NetBSD, AIX, GNU Hurd and Solaris/x86. Additionally, the software makes it quite easy to add support for other platforms as well, with volunteers invited to submit additional patches.
In the latest release of pciutils, a number of updates have been implemented. These include a revised copyright header in the pci.ids file, modifications to the lib/sysfs.c system for limiting warnings about unsupported 64-bit addresses, corrected printing of 64-bit addresses in bus-centric mode via lspci.c, and enabling 64-bit addresses on all Linux systems via lib/configure. Finally, the program now pads 64-bit addresses to only 8 xigits if they are shorter, rather than 16.
