Peapod Podcatcher

Peapod Podcatcher is a powerful podcast receiver that allows you to download podcasts through HTTP and BitTorrent. While this software is best suited for experienced users, its unique features provide an exceptional listening experience for podcast lovers.

One of the notable aspects of Peapod Podcatcher is that it doesn't have a GUI but is designed to run from the command-line. Once you have downloaded and extracted Peapod software, you can create a configuration file by simply typing "/path/to/peapod.py." The default configuration file will be created in your home directory at ".peapod/peapod.xml."

You can then edit this file in a text-editor to set defaults for the program. If you need to override any defaults, you can use command-line arguments instead. To access these arguments, type "/path/to/peapod.py --help."

Adding a feed through the command-line is simple. Just type "/path/to/peapod.py --addnew=." You can also fetch any updated feeds in your list by typing "/path/to/peapod.py."

Another cool feature of Peapod Podcatcher is the ability to copy all the feeds downloaded recently to your MP3 player. To access this feature, type "/path/to/peapod.py --copynew." You can execute this command every time you want to copy the podcasts you downloaded since the last copy.

Finally, you can dump a playlist of downloaded files since the last time you ran Peapod Podcatcher. To do so, type "/path/to/peapod.py --playlist > /path/to/podcasts.m3u."

In order to utilize Peapod Podcatcher, you must have Python installed. You'll be pleased to know this latest release includes fixes to address, among other things, a dependency on PythonXML.
