pcpViewer is a 3D data viewer made for the Performance Co-Pilot library. It provides a visualization of data collected through the library.
PCPViewer is an excellent 3D viewer of performance data gathered through the Performance Co-Pilot library. It allows you to view the CPU time usage, net devices, memory, hard drives, and virtually any data that can be exported by the pcp library and daemon. This software was developed as a 3D replacement for xosview, with the aim of achieving the same level of responsiveness as xosview.
In order to compile this software, you need to install the Performance Co-Pilot library from SGI. Additionally, you need an OpenInventor implementation, either the reference implementation or the Coin implementation. A toolkit handler for OpenInventor, such as SoQt, SoXt, or SoGtk, is also required.
To install the software, run configure with the necessary option to choose your toolkit. For example, use "./configure --with-soqt" for Qt and "./configure --with-soxt" for Motif. Then run make to compile the software.
Note that pcpview will not be installed via make install as it is not yet considered mature enough. However, there are no dependencies, documentation, or man files at this time, so all you need to do is copy the COMPILATION_DIR/src/pcpview binary in your path.
PCPViewer has been improved in this release with code cleanup, including more c++ and less C. The -h command line option to specify a remote host has been added, allowing you to get graphs of performance data on a remote host by running "pcpview -h remotehost" assuming pmcd is running on the remote host. Finally, when zooming out, text values are disabled to prevent them from becoming unreadable.
