Pete's Blackjack is an enjoyable Java-based card game that offers players an entertaining experience with the popular casino game.
In terms of requirements, the game is compatible with Sun® Javatm 2 Platform, version 1.4.2 (or higher), and any browser that is java-enabled. It works on Linux or other major operating systems. The recommended configuration includes Sun® Javatm 2 Platform, SDK, version 1.4.2 (or higher) to run the game with appletviewer.
The new release of the game features several enhancements, including the offering of insurance when the dealer has an ace showing, and the player has blackjack. Additionally, players are paid a push and insurance if they have blackjack and so does the dealer. If a player gets two aces, the initial total displayed is 12, not 22. The overall layout has also undergone a change, with the GridLayout being replaced by the BoxLayout, resulting in the elimination of empty space.
Other minor changes have been implemented, including the addition of a counter to keep track of how many hands have played. An options menu has also been included, allowing players to customize settings such as player blackjack paying 1.5 or 2 times the bet, initial and subsequent pot values being set to $100, $500 or $1000, and the dealer's requirement to hit a soft seventeen being toggled. Overall, Pete's Blackjack provides a thrilling and fun experience for those who love a good game of cards.
