I recently tried qrwho, a software that acts as a graphical frontend for rwho/rwhod, based on Qt. The user interface of qrwho is incredibly simple and it can be used to display and keep track of the users who are currently logged in, along with the average loads of the hosts in the network.

Moreover, depending on whether or not you have compiled Qt with NO_DEBUG flag defined, you can use Qt debugging options such as dograb (under X11), nograb, and sync (under X11) to run the software effectively on your system.
