Quarantine firewall is a firewall software with traffic shaping, masquerade and type-of-service features.
Quarantine Firewall is a versatile firewall that comes loaded with a set of advanced features such as masquerade, type-of-service, and traffic shaping capabilities. It is easy to install, simply run the 'make install' command and you are good to go. The installation process will copy the module files, qconfig, qmodule and a sample configuration file to /etc/quarantine.d.
After installation, the configuration file rc.quarantine can be edited manually or via the configuration utility qconfig. Quarantine and netrouter also goes to /etc/init.d. To ensure proper configuration, create a symlink in /etc/rc.d/rc[whatever].d named S99netrouter and K00netrouter pointing at /etc/init.d/netrouter.
The firewall script (quarantine) is designed to obtain the host's IP address when connecting to the internet. To ensure proper operation, add '/etc/init.d/quarantine start' in the /etc/ppp/ip-up file, and insert a '/etc/init.d/quarantine stop' in the /etc/ppp/ip-down script file.
Quarantine Firewall has a few requirements to function properly, including ipchains, forwarding support (see kernel's readme), ipmasqadm (see kernel's readme) for masquerade, and iproute2 for traffic shaping.
