SCCS is a tool that allows for the control of source code, following the POSIX standards.
The SCCS project is a fantastic implementation of the POSIX standard Source Code Control System. It provides users with an efficient and accurate control system for managing source code. However, the manual configuration method is now outdated. Users no longer need to call 'configure', as this is automatically handled by the makefile system. To use SCCS, simply run 'make' in the top-level directory.
If you encounter any issues, please read the entire file for guidance. Also, make sure to check the relevant README.* files, such as README.linux for Linux problems. All the results will be placed in the OBJ/< arch-name >/ directory located in the current projects leaf directory.
To compile the program, you will need either my "smake" program, SunPRO make from /usr/bin/make (SunOS 4.x) or /usr/ccs/bin/make (SunOS 5.x), or GNU make. Make sure to read README.gmake for additional details on gmake and a list of the most annoying bugs. Other make programs may not be smart enough or have bugs.
The latest release of SCCS comes with an exciting new program called "sccslog," which creates a Changelog file from SCCS history files. Additionally, the program was ported to HP-UX using setresuid() to replace seteuid(). Finally, several bugs in the man pages have been fixed, making the program even more reliable and user-friendly.
