SIBsim4

SIBsim4 is a software project that is based on the original sim4 program. It is designed to align expressed DNA sequences with genomic sequences that allow for introns. SIBsim4 is an extensive rewrite of the sim4 program, with key improvements such as increased execution speed and informative output. This software is a derivative work of sim4, hence its name. SIB (Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics) stands behind this project with some code modifications being done by Claudio Lottaz while working at SIB. Presently, Christian Iseli from the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR), Information Technology Office in Lausanne, is developing and maintaining SIBsim4, with LICR as an SIB partner.

SIBsim4 has several key features, including improved speed for aligning large DNA sequences at the chromosome scale. The software provides more detailed output about splice types and polyA sites, and miscellaneous code cleanups and fixes. In the latest release, SIBsim4 introduces a chimera detection feature to improve the software's functionality further.
