Smit is a user-friendly software that allows easy ARP sniffing in both switched and unswitched networks.
Smit is a simple ARP sniffer designed for both switched and unswitched networks. It performs even better on switched networks due to the fact that the spoofed sides do not see the duplicated packets.
This software is based on sources from arpmitm and arprelay, and comes with a array of useful features, including an automatic ARP MAC query and improved MAC cache consistency algorithm.
Moreover, Smit allows you to save the entire relayed traffic to a file, offering both buffered and direct write modes for heavy traffic. You can then analyse the captured packets with a hex editor.
One of the standout new features is the format of the capture file, which now defaults to 'pkt'. This means that the captured packets will be prefixed with packet ID and number (going from 0), as well as captured packet length. The decoding of this file can be done using the pktview utility, which is currently under development.
Please note that if you don't require the lame tcp-data extracting code, you can simply undef 'TCPDATA' in pktview.c.
