A sound mixing software that lets you trigger and mix multiple sound files in real-time using your computer keyboard. You can easily add sound files to the keyboard keys through drag and drop feature.

What makes Soundplant stand out is its ability to utilize your own digital samples instead of being restricted to synthesizers. This provides you with limitless possibilities when it comes to creating music. Soundplant's simple yet effective graphic interface enables users to drag and drop sound files onto keyboard keys for quick and easy key assignment. Each key can be customized with several options which control the way each sound is triggered, including pitch, offsets, looping, volume, and panning.
Soundplant offers a range of features, including the ability to use 72 keyboard keys to trigger sounds, all with minimal latency. Users can also batch assign the same sound to multiple keys at varying pitches, control RAM usage, and assign auto-splice pieces of sound across multiple keys. Other features include memory-efficiently duplicating key configurations onto other keys, customizable sound triggering, and on-screen display of the keyboard, which can be color-coded for a more visual experience.
Soundplant is a true performance program, allowing you to play and trigger sounds even while configuring. It supports eight stereo or mono samples simultaneously, and the freeware version plays .wav, .aif, and .au files. The program saves and loads keyboard configurations as .keymap files, and loads keymaps from all previous versions of Soundplant.
To run the program, a Windows 9x/NT/ME/2000/XP machine and a sound card are required. Soundplant runs optimally when using a 450MHz CPU or better, a full duplex PCI sound card supporting DirectSound (or Quicktime if DirectSound is unavailable), and at least 64 MB RAM. But, it can still run acceptably on lesser-configured systems.
All in all, Soundplant is a versatile digital audio performance program that offers a wide range of features to elevate your music creation experience.
