Timmic is a collaborative waiting room management software that is versatile and can be used in medical cabinets or hospitals. It is a multi-platform system that uses various technologies such as Swing, JMS, EJBs, Hibernate, and JasperReports on an embedded JBoss app server.
The software is easy to use, and it provides critical information about the status of your cabinet. With Timmic, you have access to some key features which include a top above edition panel where you can enter new visitors, four types distinguished: patient, friend, professionals and unknown. The centered waiting room panel indicates waiting time, displayed with colored spheres for delay, in process or processed visitors. Changing appointment status is also easy and can be done using a simple double-click on the colored spheres. There is also an Instant Messaging area with a bell quick message, and a bottom filters area to fit waiting room display
To install Timmic, you need to have the Java Runtime Environment installed on your computer. The installation process is straightforward. You will need to execute the timmic-install-xxx.jar and follow the installation instructions. Alternatively, you can manually launch the setup using java -jar timmic-install-xxx.jar. Checking the client option during installation is not mandatory thanks to the embedded Java WebStart technology. It would be best to avoid using space character in the server's installation path. Once installed, the next step would be to start the server.
Starting the server is easy. You need to open the server installation directory (the one you chose during the installation process) and launch the run.sh command located at the timmic-jboss-server/bin directory. Once the server is started, you can check the installation on the designated URL, where yourserver is either computer name or IP address. During the first installation startup, the database is empty without any user information data. To log in the first time and set up users, use name: root and password: admin.
In the latest release, some new features have been added, such as an agenda, an information panel, installation refactoring, global refactoring (Hibernate 3, JBoss 4…), delay collocation spheres management, and several bugfixes in appointment edition.
