ufrb-kde

I recently had the opportunity to try out ufrb-kde, a powerful servicemenu for KDE-based distributions that requires UFRaw and ImageMagick to be installed. Upon installation, I found that this menu contained two color profiles, a ufraw ID file, a *.Desktop servicemenu, and a bash script – all of which make it incredibly easy to edit and manage raw files on a regular basis.

With ufrb-kde, I was able to conveniently right-click any number of raw files, including multiple files from different cameras, and choose my preferred processing option from four available formats and three levels of sharpening. In addition, there's even a high-ISO mode for when I need it. What's especially impressive is that ufrb-kde uses ufraw-batch for efficient batch conversion of my raw files, while also providing unsharp masking in the CIE profile. The result is raw files that are converted and sharpened to perfection before being converted to the requested file format in sRGB.

Another great feature of ufrb-kde comes in the form of its ability to convert a RAW file through UFRaw and save the associated ID file as "standard.ufraw" in /usr/share/color/profiles. This allows you to finetune the way ufrb-kde works to your preferred way of working.

As for requirements, all you need is KDE. The latest release of the servicemenu includes menus that have been rearranged to make navigation more intuitive, a new framing option, better file management, and an all-in-one text file that contains both the Bash script and KDE servicemenu. Overall, I would highly recommend ufrb-kde to anyone looking to easily and efficiently manage raw files on their KDE-based system.
