VideoteXt is a Linux/x86 compatible software that decodes videotext/teletext for PC.
VideoteXt is a powerful video/teletext decoder designed for Linux/x86 systems. This software comes equipped with a device driver, an interactive X-Window-System frontend, and a command-line oriented frontend for non-interactive usage. While there are no drivers for videotext-cards on other operating systems apart from Linux, VideoteXt will work with any Unix system.
With its TOP-text capable XView-version, you can receive all single pages of a station in advance in a matter of minutes. The hotlist feature seeks frequently used pages automatically whenever you switch to a new station. VideoteXt also allows you to save and load pages, and export them in GIF-, PPM-, PNG-, ASCII- and PostScript-format.
The command-line version offers TOP-text support and the ability to output received pages in different ASCII- and binary formats suitable for later post-processing with AWK scripts. The device-driver, which is a loadable kernel module for Linux, supports a list of hardware interfaces that are currently available in the software. Meanwhile, the software also supports the use of external viewers for web browsers.
