Vov (Vov's Obsessive Von-neumann) is an interpreter tool that emulates the behavior of a Von-neumann machine. It reads files in the form of memory assignments and executes the encoded instructions. With vov's instructions, you can perform simple arithmetic data manipulation. This tool is very useful for testing the functionality of your programs.

To run a vov program from a file, you can use it as you would any other shell, Perl, Python, or Ruby program. To configure vov, there is a shell script named configure in the top source directory. The configure script is a standard GNU autoconf configure script and accepts the standard GNU configuration options (such as --prefix). Running the script with the --help option will provide a brief summary of the recognized options.

The script recognizes non-standard options like --enable-ansi[=STD], which compiles against the standard ISO STD (default c99). You can also turn off all compiler warning flags with --disable-warnings (default: no). Additionally, you can create a binary with profiling information usable with GNU gprof by using --enable-gprof (default: no). The tool also allows you to turn on debugging code with --enable-debug (default: no). You can enable call frame generation for debugging with --enable-frame-pointer (default: no).

For the memory page size, you can set it using --with-psize. It must be numeric and a power of two between 512 (OpenVMS VAX) and 16384 (Intel Itanium - IA64) bytes. If you know a working system with a memory page size not in this range, please notify the developer. The default value of the memory page size should be adequate in most cases (default: 4096).
