The EZ Wizard software allows users to easily activate monitor power management on Windows systems, potentially saving up to $50 per year. Developed by DOE/EPA, it offers a simple point-and-click interface and is compatible with various Windows versions.
Computer systems are some of the most energy-intensive pieces of equipment in an office or home environment. Sadly, much of this energy is wasted when the computer is idle, such as when you're in a meeting or out to lunch. Luckily, by using ENERGY STAR, the component of your computer that uses the most energy, your monitor, can be switched off during idle periods.
EZ Wizard provides a simple point-and-click interface that will help you activate the ENERGY STAR capabilities quickly and easily. If you're not already using ENERGY STAR, the software will prompt you to activate it. You can then choose how long your system should remain idle before it goes to sleep, with 10, 15, or 20 minutes being the available options. In some cases, the software may also ask if you want to see your screen saver before the monitor goes to sleep.
Once you've provided the answers to these simple questions, the program will enable the features that work with your monitor. This user-friendly software is an essential tool for managing your energy consumption and reducing your impact on the environment.
