A beam propagator software for optical waveguides allowing users to create custom waveguide structures through the graphical interface, define the input beam, determine a waveguide length and execute beam propagation through the waveguide at the click of a button. Full-vectoral wave-optics technology is used in the software.
An exciting feature of this software is that it allows users to include gain in the waveguide. This means you can simulate fiber laser amplifiers to your desired specifications. The available optical waveguide structures in this software are rib waveguides, step-index fiber waveguides, photonic crystal fiber waveguides, multi-core fibers, hexagonal segment fiber waveguides, tapered fibers, and graded-index fibers.
Users can also employ advanced features like imaginary-z-axis propagation to find the fundamental mode and all the higher-order waveguide modes. Once the modes are found, users can use them as inputs for further applications. The software also offers the option to apply settings like birefringence, gain, gain saturation, the reference index, propagation step size, propagation distance, or nonlinear index. Users can adjust the resolution for their calculations as well.
The software allows users to choose from four different input beams options: Gaussian beam, calculated mode, a previously-saved optical field file, or use the current output as an input. Input beams can be polarized horizontally or vertically, or both (45 degree polarization). The software provides the ability to save projects files for later use. It is essential to note that this software is the companion software for the book: Introduction to Modeling and Simulation for Optical Waveguides.
