Lightning Brain TextStitch simplifies threading of text frames in InDesign CS, CS2 or CS3. It makes the process of joining and managing content across multiple text frames effortless.
To streamline your workflow even further, it's recommended that you assign keyboard shortcuts to the TextStitch menu items. You can do this by accessing the Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts... menu.
The auto-stitch function is particularly helpful, as it will automatically thread all unthreaded text frames it finds. It then puts them in a logical order, which is roughly from left to right, top to bottom, and in page order. In cases where frames are positioned irregularly, this software will try to guess a logical order. However, it will ignore non-empty text frames and ones that have already been threaded.
You can choose to perform this function either on the current spread or throughout the complete document. There is a configuration dialog under the API - Text Stitch - Configure... menu item, which allows you to select the preferred option.
The second function, quick stitch, enables you to stitch multiple text frames together quickly, with just a single click per frame. Lastly, the auto-unstitch feature breaks all text threads on the current spread or in the current document. This will cause all stories to 'bunch up' in the first frame of each story thread. However, be careful when using this function because it will also remove all threads you may have assigned manually.
The requirements for this software are InDesign CS, CS2, or CS3. It's an excellent addition to any designer's toolkit and can make your work a lot easier and faster.
