SafeLauncher is software that allows you to run any Windows application under a specified user account, enabling you to use restricted accounts while still working under an administrator's account.
Users often work on their computers using an account that belongs to the local administrators group. However, many do not realize that any program executed under this account has the potential to interfere with their data. For instance, some malicious code downloaded from a website might execute inside the Internet Explorer browser. As a result, a 'malicious program' runs on the computer with unlimited privileges. Although antivirus software can detect this and raise an alarm, in most cases, this is only possible with well-known malicious code. Therefore, antivirus software is often powerless when encountering code it is seeing for the first time.
A more effective solution is to run the Internet Explorer browser under an account that does not belong to the administrators group and has fewer privileges than the account you typically work under. If the malicious code gets executed, it would fail to steal any data or infect the computer. In the worst-case scenario, the Internet Explorer application would crash, with no threat to user data. SafeLauncher understands these risks, and it's designed to provide a better and safer way to run the applications you depend on.
