This open-source application launcher is designed for WireShark, a Unix-based network monitoring application. It simplifies the launch process and provides quick access to the program.
WireShark operates via a command-line utility called tcpdump, and it runs effectively under Apple's X11 environment through Fink or MacPorts. Although it's also possible to open WireShark from within X11, the process involves requiring a user password, which can be somewhat of a tedious process.
Thankfully, SharkLauncher makes launching WireShark much more accessible and convenient by simply clicking on its icon that's located on the Dock. After clicking the icon, X11 is instantly launched, leading to SharkLauncher prompting users to input their administrator password since WireShark can only function under said conditions.
To successfully use SharkLauncher, users need to have the following requirements: X11.app and a DarwinPorts installation of Ethereal/Fink. Rest assured, SharkLauncher makes launching WireShark easier than ever before!
