Vivid Report is a C++ Builder library that offers visual components for generating reports. Users can produce printable reports of various complexities with its help.
The latest version, Vivid Report 2.0, has been created with an innovative technology known as 'VCL2' or 'alive components', which enhances the overall capabilities of the software.
The report design concept in Vivid Report comprises of several pages that can contain child reports or universal bands that serve as a way to place data images on the page. These bands are linked to data controllers, which act as data containers that manage the display of data in the bands. By implementing this concept in Vivid Report, one can avoid the need for specialized report designers while enjoying the best possible What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) experience and the efficient use of multiple data.
Vivid Report offers a plethora of features, including unlimited hierarchical levels of reports, pages, and printable pages, the placement of data images in varied bands across pages, and three modes of printing. Users can define all sizes and coordinates in various physical measurement units up to 0.01 mm, and take advantage of unique band alignment properties on a page, formatting of all text objects, true transparency of bands and graphical images, and combination of two ways of data getting. The Grid component allows users to create 1D and 2D tables of a very complex structure, and Vivid Report supports printing of values of the currency independently of current regional Windows settings.
Moreover, Vivid Report comes with support for twenty types of bar codes including EAN 8, EAN 13, UPC A, and many more. It also offers a full-functional preview of the print and customizable printing progress. Importantly, Vivid Report is a 100% VCL library and is written entirely in C++.
