WinMLS2000 offers user-friendly, precise and adaptable audio, acoustical and vibrational measurements through a sound card. Popular among experts, this software is now available at affordable prices enabling non-professionals to conduct professional loudspeaker and room evaluations.
One of the most user-friendly features of WinMLS2000 is the default setups for standard measurements. These setups include sound system calibration, THD+N and harmonic distortion, and reverberation time in rooms. Additionally, the measuring equipment is portable and lightweight, using blank pistol and a laptop PC.
WinMLS2000 also boasts flexible hardware, supporting over 50 sound cards that can be easily calibrated for accurate measurements. Input and output levels can be easily set using the built-in software mixer, and calibration of both hardware and microphone is possible using either calibrator or nominal microphone sensitivity.
The software can be upgraded to support up to 24 channels with sample-accurate synchronization, depending on the sound card. It also supports selection from multiple sound cards and offers sampling rates up to 96 kHz in the standard version. A special version can measure above 100 kHz using a sampling rate of 215 kHz.
When measuring, WinMLS2000 uses internally generated MLS loudspeaker signals with optional low-frequency boosting or speech filters for a high signal to noise ratio. There are several measurement modes available, including MLS, sinusoid, user-defined excitation, and scope. Swept sine excitation will soon be included.
Users can subtract the influence of the measurement system and use the auto-name generator for data saving. Standard WAV, ASCII, and MLSSA TIM file formats are supported, and the software can measure the initial time delay sample-accurately with all supported sound cards.
WinMLS2000 allows users to remove toolbars from the interface to maximize the screen area used to display the plot(s). Data can be exported and plotted using powerful graphics, including full and third-octave band analysis, dBA, dBB, dBC, and waterfall plots. There are also many features for comparing several curves in a plot.
Overall, WinMLS2000 is a highly recommended software tool for anyone in need of accurate and user-friendly audio, acoustical, and vibrational measurements.
