Bocken

Bocken is a powerful package manager that excels at handling forward and reverse recursive dependency resolving, installations, uninstallations, and install logging, as well as patching, unpacking, and integrity checks. Unlike other package managers, Bocken does not require a database and relies on XML-like configuration files.

One of the greatest strengths of Bocken is its ability to function smoothly in locked down, proxied networks. Additionally, it seamlessly adapts to Linux from source distributions and LFS.

When it comes to client installation, simply use the "./Autoinstall" command or edit the script as needed. Conversely, client uninstallation involves using one of the following commands: "bocken --reinstall," "bocken --nodeps --yes," "bocken --uninstall," or "bocken --nodeps --yes."

Bocken works by obtaining specified packages from remote sites listed in "/SYSCONFDIR/bocken/servers.conf" and subsequently installing the package with the most up-to-date version available. It attempts to resolve all dependencies and formulate an installation order for them. Before installing packages, Bocken checks md5sums and gpgsums and unpacks them accordingly. Configuration make and make install are specified in the remote or local repositories packages.conf sections.

In the case of uninstalling packages, Bocken defaults to removing dependent packages associated with the specified package. Any packages that depend on the previously mentioned package will also be removed. Overall, Bocken is a versatile and reliable package manager that caters to a diverse range of needs.
