The basic unit of an Inform! document is a window, which can be thought of as pages in a book. You can have as many windows as you want, each with its own caption, background color or gradient color, or picture as background. You can also make objects on top of pictures temporarily invisible, and associate an audio or video file with the window that can be played once, several times, or indefinitely. Additionally, one or more windows can act like a slide show, each displayed for 1/2 second to one minute.
With previous and next page arrows, you can easily navigate through your document, or create your own custom navigation methods. You can also organize windows (pages) into sections like chapters of a book, and create as many outlines and alphabetically ordered indexes as you want.
