K ISDN Watch

I recently had the chance to test out K ISDN Watch, a powerful and universal ISDN monitor designed specifically for KDE 3. What's great about this software is that it is compatible with all AVM ISDN-Controllers and the CAPI4Linux driver. Moreover, it is an open source program, meaning that the complete source code is available under the GNU Public License, which is always a plus in my book.

K ISDN Watch is mainly based on the ISDN monitor "kimon" for I4L (ISDN4Linux) and the HiSax driver, and it can be used in all Linux distributions. But what are the features that make it stand out? Well, it offers a plethora of monitoring options, such as the ability to monitor all activities of the AVM ISDN-Controller and a status display for connection set-up and clear-down.

In addition, K ISDN Watch features display of the number of ISDN B channels used, identification of the AVM ISDN-Controller in use, connection time information (including a log), and integration in the KDE panel. These features allow you to use the software to its fullest extent and monitor your ISDN network with ease.

K ISDN Watch has a few requirements, such as any Linux kernel (e.g. kernel 2.6.11.4-20a-default / SUSE Linux 9.3 Pro.), KDE 3.x with the current Qt library (version 3.0.2 or later), and AVM ISDN-Controllers with CAPI4Linux drivers. But overall, it's a reliable and robust solution for ISDN monitoring.

In terms of updates, the latest release brings display fix, showing more than 24 hours online time, and tray tooltip that shows connection information. Overall, K ISDN Watch is an excellent option for anyone who needs to monitor their ISDN network on Linux.
