I recently came across the Dell XPS1330 Laptop and was disappointed to find that there were no custom kernel options available. Despite searching for a configuration file or some instructions to compile my own kernel, I couldn't find anything. That's why I was excited to find out about the kernel-xps-m1330 project! This fantastic project is focused on delivering specific deb packages of kernel and headers for Dell XPS-M1330 laptops.

The team behind the kernel-xps-m1330 project has promised to keep up with the latest Ubuntu release of the kernel. Whenever Ubuntu releases a new 2.6.xx-x kernel, the new custom kernel will follow suit and be released as 2.6.xx-x-xps1330. It's worth noting, though, that the default Ubuntu kernel won't be overwritten or removed. However, once you install the custom kernel, it will become the default.

It's important to mention that this project doesn't involve modifying the kernel source code, at least not yet. The kernel-xps-m1330 project is released under the GNU GPL, and the team will publish the configuration file that they used to compile the kernel. Overall, I'm very impressed with what the kernel-xps-m1330 project is offering, and I can't wait to try it out on my Dell XPS1330 laptop!
