This app offers vast functionality, allowing local machines to be scheduled to shutdown, reboot, hibernate, standby, log off, lock the computer, wake up from hibernate or standby mode, and display a popup message dialog. On the other hand, networked machines can also be scheduled to shutdown, reboot, hibernate, log off, and wake up.

Other noteworthy features of Prof Shutdown include log file maintenance, command line support, and no need for a remote client installation. The scheduling interface is simple and doesn't require any special knowledge. With a wizard-style scheduler, one can click on the "Add New Task" icon to select a job to execute (shutdown, reboot, etc.) and type in a message to be displayed in a popup dialog before a job is executed.

With the message display time can be set up according to your preference, and the app prompts you to add a remote machine by specifying its name or IP, login, and password (if necessary). If a networked machine is unknown, the Active Directory Search or scanning from IP range functions can be used to search for it.
