Smart Battery Workshop

Smart Battery Workshop is a powerful tool for repairing notebook batteries. It provides read-only access to all the data listed in Smart Battery Data Specification Revision 1.1 via LPT/SMBus adapter directly from battery terminals (57 parameters). The tool decodes all the BitFlags into easily understandable text.

One of the best features of Smart Battery Workshop is that it allows users to reset Smart Battery EEPROM to its initial values, erasing all previous battery usage except for ManufactureDate, which will be changed to the current system date. All Permanent Failure Flags, if any, will be cleared, unlocking the battery if it is locked. This essentially gives users a "brand new" battery after repacking, and advanced electronics skills are not needed. The changes are made with one button click.

Smart Battery Workshop also allows users to read and write the content of EEPROM chips most frequently used in batteries. It can also read Battery Data from EEPROM dump file (for supported chipsets only). With the included Battery Analyzer feature, users can analyze batteries and select cells for battery packs.

The software currently supports several chipsets, including BQ2040/24C01, BQ2040/24C02, BQ2060/24C01, BQ2060/24C02, BQ2063/24C01, BQ2063/24C02, BQ2092/24C01, M37515/S29L220 (SL220), PIC16C63A/24C01 (used in COMPAQ Armada M300, E500, M700, Evo, and some other models), and many more. Notably, Smart Battery Workshop is not SBS compliant.
