ttrk (tektracker) is a MIDI sequencer that stands out thanks to its console interface and tracker-style step editor. As a user, I was frustrated by the subpar step editors of most sequencers, and as a tracker enthusiast, I incorporated the beloved interface elements of trackers into the design of ttrk.
The guiding principles behind ttrk were focused on five key objectives: first, creating a tracker-style step editor, similar to that of ScreamTracker3. Second, a pattern-based sequencer like Sonic Foundry's ACID. Third, large track mute buttons a la Alesis MMT8. Fourth, real-time editing without requiring the user to push stop. And fifth, having all the functions readily available through the keyboard for fast editing.
The key features of ttrk include a tracker-style step editor, support for 256 channels with 256 patterns each, songs as long as 4096 patterns, standard cut, copy and paste options, as well as syncing to and sending MIDI sync. Additionally, ttrk makes use of convenient channel mute buttons for live play.
