24U SimpleHighlight Plug-In enables users to highlight text or rectangular areas with their preferred color easily.
Newly updated to version 2.0, 24U SimpleHighlight Plug-In can now generate pictures from numeric data, making it even more versatile. This plug-in was originally distributed with FileMaker Developer 7 and FileMaker Pro Advanced 8.0, but it is now available as both open source and shareware.
A complete commented source code for limited free functionality is included with the plug-in, and additional advanced features can be unlocked for a fee after a 14-day trial period. There is no registration required to use the free functions.
24U SimpleHighlight Plug-In offers two color highlighting functions: X24uL_Highlight and X24uL_SolidColor. X24uL_Highlight finds all occurrences of a search string in a text and highlights them with color and/or style as defined either in Preferences or via function parameters. Previous formatting of the text is preserved. X24uL_SolidColor generates a color rectangle using color, and optionally also opacity, specified in the function parameters. The resulting image may be placed directly into a container field via the plug-in.
Key features of 24U SimpleHighlight Plug-In include highlighting occurrences of search strings in text, preserving the original formatting of every single character, filling rectangular areas with a color (optionally transparent), and returning container type data. The plug-in also draws color rectangles in container fields based on numeric data (paid), generates images from FileMaker Pro calculations (paid), retrieves color information from a picture (paid), and includes commented C++ source code for free functions.
The software is compatible with Power Macintosh G3 with Mac OS 10.4 and FileMaker Pro 7, as well as Intel Macintosh with Mac OS 10.4 and FileMaker Pro 8.5. The only limitation is a 14-day trial period. The latest release of the software is a full-featured shareware product with open-source functions, a universal binary that runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, and it works with FileMaker Pro 7.0, 8.0, and 8.5.
