This Firefox add-on automatically closes unused tabs to improve browser performance.
This software automatically closes tabs that have been left unused for a long period of time, saving you time and hassle. You'll know when a tab is about to close, as it will become gray a few minutes before the closure. However, you can select it to prevent it from closing by making a double click on it. If you later decide to remove the protection, you can double click on it again.
To make things even easier for you, unread tabs (displayed in red) will not be closed automatically. Moreover, you can protect a tab by clicking on it twice. When a tab is protected, its title is displayed underlined.
All the read/unread and protected attributes of tabs are preserved after a session restore, so you don't need to worry about setting them up again. When a window isn't used for a long time, the extension will go into an "idle" mode for this window (displayed in the status bar) and nothing will be closed during this period of inactivity.
This AutoClose Tabs extension is cross-platform and it works perfectly on various operating systems, including Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. It's compatible with Firefox versions starting from 2.0.
In short, AutoClose Tabs is a useful, powerful and easy-to-use tool that can make your browsing experience much smoother and more efficient, allowing you to focus on the things that really matter. If you're looking for a way to manage your tabs more effectively, this software is definitely worth a try!
