The Camera Obscura desktop icons display the version used by Nicéphore Niépce, allowing easy access to a simulation of his historical invention.
Niépce was responsible for pioneering the technique of preserving an image taken with a camera obscura in 1826 or 1827. He achieved this breakthrough by using a special mixture of bitumen on a pewter plate, which he named Heliography.
The first preserved photograph ever taken was titled "View from the Window at Le Gras," and it's the image that you can see in the iPhoto icon of this package. The third icon in this package is a folder icon that I created.
These desktop icons are completely free for personal and non-commercial use. They're designed to be replacement icons for Apple's Aperture and iPhoto applications. However, you can use them for any other application you want, or use the folder icon for organizing your picture collection.
Overall, these desktop icons are a beautiful and meaningful addition to any photography lover's computer.
