ColumnForge is a software that enables you to play classic arcade games on your Mac device with the latest version of Mac OS X.
In ColumnForge, your objective is to achieve the highest score possible by arranging falling pieces into color formations on the playfield. You can move the falling piece sideways, down, and change its color order. Once the pieces form horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines with a length of at least three pieces, they collapse and disappear, causing the pieces above them to fall down. But be careful not to let the pieces reach the top of the playfield, or your game will end.
The key to success in ColumnForge is learning to use chain reactions to collect high scores. When the first pieces collapse after you drop a piece, you get 5 points for each piece cleared. If the pieces that fall from above the collapsing pieces form another formation, you get 10 points for each piece cleared. This increases to 15 points, and so on.
As you progress through the game, the level advances after every 30 pieces you have cleared, and the speed increases at the same time. By the time you reach level 20 and above, good reflexes are needed to keep up with the game's fast pace.
This release of ColumnForge includes several fixes and improvements. Pop-up menus in the options dialog under Mac OS X 10.3 have been fixed, and preferences can now be saved more efficiently. Keyboard control issues under Mac OS X 10.3 have also been resolved by replacing GetKeys with reading raw key events from the Carbon event handler. With these updates, players will have a smoother and more enjoyable experience playing Columns on their Mac using ColumnForge.
