Commander II is an upgraded version of Commander software with enhanced efficiency, new powerful features and capabilities, and has been re-engineered from the start.
Some of the key features of Commander II include fully handled interactivity, shells sharing across windows, continuous child processes monitoring, and multiple concurrent workflow windows that can be saved and printed. Commands output can now be redirected to a log when executed in workflows, and logs themselves can be printed, searched, and exported in a text file.
There are some limitations to keep in mind, however. Although the shareware is fully functional, it does require a license to remove occasional reminder messages.
In terms of what's new in this release, there are some significant changes. The workflow window has been re-designed with a more efficient tabular interface that makes defining workflows simple and straightforward. Multiple concurrent workflows can now be run simultaneously, with each having its own window that can be saved and printed. New controls make it easy to handle batches or testing benchmarks results, while asynchronous command execution ensures smoother performance.
The command window has also undergone significant enhancements. Multiple windows can now be added to share use a common shell, and interactivity can be handled with ease thanks to the option to respond to prompts in the result field. Several internal changes and bug fixes have been made, making the software more reliable and performing.
Finally, the licensing scheme have been changed to make things easier for users. The interface is now accessible via the menu and the program is distributed as shareware. When unlicensed, a reminder message will appear every 10 executed commands, but the software remains fully functional in every respect.
