Mac OS X utility for file compression and archiving.
This software supports a range of archive formats that include Zip compressed archives (.zip), XAR archives (.xar), TAR archives (.tar), Gzip compressed archives (.tar.gz), and Bzip2 compressed archives (.tar.bz2). Compress Files is easy to navigate, and all you have to do to compress a file is drag and drop the file onto the Compress Files icon. If Compress Files is not open, the program will launch and compress your files. You can also compress files by simply dragging them into the application window.
The Compress Files window allows you to compress multiple files at once by dragging them onto the window. You can also compress larger groups of files by placing them in a folder and dragging the entire folder onto Compress Files. The tool offers users the flexibility to omit Finder specific information (like .DS_Store files) and Mac-specific file attributes (such as resource forks) when creating Zip archives, which saves you time in transferring files to Windows and Linux users.
Compress Files offers an option to move original files into the trash after the archive was created, which increases the level of organization and saves disk space. All in all, Compress Files is a necessity for every Mac user who anticipates compressing, mailing, and archiving their files effectively.
