This free app combines AppleScript and Automator to enable playing iTunes music via a mobile phone.
With DittyBot, all you need to do is send a text message from your mobile phone to your POP email account. You should include the keywords of the song title (and possibly an artist name) that you want to hear. DittyBot automatically checks your email every 45 seconds and searches for your request. Once it finds your email, it copies the song name into a text file.
DittyBot then proceeds to copy the song name into iTunes and creates a playlist based on your search. It also loads Skype (the internet telephony app) and starts calling your mobile phone. When you pick up the call, your song starts playing in all its compressed glory. The software will continue to play your selection until you hang up.
The whole process should take no more than a minute from when you send your song request (depending on the speed of your POP server). Sometimes it's even quicker!
It's worth noting that DittyBot is licensed and released under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License. Detailed instructions on how to install and use DittyBot are available on the website. Overall, DittyBot is a great tool for music lovers who frequently use their mobile phones to listen to iTunes songs.
