Encrypt, decrypt, sign and verify plain text messages with Eudora-GPG Scripts software.
In terms of coding, the Eudora-GPG Scripts leverage AppleScript as the primary programming language, with a few one-liners sent to Unix via the 'do shell script' command. This approach offers a significant advantage in that it requires very few items to be installed on the Unix side, significantly reducing the chances of any technical hang-ups when using the tool.
Despite the temptation to employ a more Unix-centric approach and utilize a single large Perl script, the creators of Eudora-GPG Scripts chose to stick to the AppleScript-based workflow. The underlying reasoning behind this decision lies in the fact that doing everything in Unix would result in a cumbersome user interaction as passing messages between Perl and the user would become extremely challenging. Therefore, running time only comes second to delivering a genuinely user-friendly and interactive experience.
In terms of system requirements, Eudora is the only software you need to use these scripts. All in all, I found this set of Applescripts to be a well-designed and user-friendly tool that will prove incredibly useful for anyone looking to encrypt, decrypt, sign, or verify plain text messages on their macOS X system.
