Facade is an interactive drama game driven by AI and centered around characters. It allows players to engage with the story and make decisions that affect the outcome of the game.
After five years of collaboration, our team has engineered a novel architecture that provides users with a 3D virtual world inhabited by computer-controlled characters, offering firsthand, real-time experiences and storytelling. Façade was publicly released as a freeware download/cd-rom in July 2005.
As the player, you assume the role of a longtime friend of Grace and Trip, the attractive and materially successful couple in their early thirties. During an evening get-together that turns ugly, you become entangled in their high-conflict dissolution. The accusations fly, sides are taken, and decisions must be made, with no one emerging unscathed. By the end of Façade's intense one-act play, you will have changed the course of this couple's life. The experience will motivate you to re-play the drama, seeing how your interaction could make things turn out differently the next time.
Façade has several requirements, such as a PowerPC with a 2.0GHz G4/G5 processor (or at least 1.0GHz if multiple CPUs) or an Intel with at least 1.8GHz Core Solo, or a processor that's faster. Overall, Façade is a unique and captivating software that's definitely worth checking out if you're interested in exploring innovative storytelling and artificial intelligence.
