This REALbasic plugin introduces two additional data types to the software.
The BigInteger data type has no limitation on its size, so it allows you to multiply a 100 digit integer by another 100 digit integer, giving you an exact 200 digit integer. On the other hand, the BigFloat data type is a multi-precision floating-point number that allows you to set the internal and decimal output precision, again with no limitation except for available memory. With this data type, you can now calculate pi in a REALbasic program to a million decimal places or more.
The power of 10 for BigFloat is much more extensive, ranging from about -600,000,000 to +600,000,000, compared to -308 to +308 for a Double. The fp Plugin also allows you to construct programs that can handle the two new data types much like integers and doubles are handled.
The two new data types can be freely used with the +,-,*, and / operators, and also used in comparisons. Additionally, most of REALbasic's functions have been overloaded to take the new data types where it makes sense. In conclusion, the fp Plugin is highly recommended for anyone looking to add bulk to their decimal calculations beyond the normal integer and double data types.
